PPGH-UFC Holds 2026 Internal Seminar

The Graduate Program in History at the Universidade Federal do Ceará (PPGH) will hold the 2026 Internal Seminar on March 9 and 10, bringing together faculty members, doctoral candidates, and postdoctoral researchers in a program dedicated to the presentation of ongoing research and the strengthening of academic debate.

The event will take place in the Audiovisual Room. On March 9, the program will be restricted to new students. Activities will run throughout the morning and afternoon, featuring individual presentations and roundtables organized around thematic axes.

Program

Roundtable (9:00–10:30 a.m.) – Political Projects in 20th-Century Brazil

  • Valderiza Menezes (Postdoctoral Fellow, PPGH-UFC) – “For the Good of Families and the Nation”: BEMFAM and Birth Control (1965–1971)
  • Daniel Alencar (Postdoctoral Fellow, PPGH-UFC) – Resentment in the Memories of Edson de Carvalho and Oscar Cordeiro about the “Oil Is Ours” Campaign (1944–1958)

Roundtable (10:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.) – Research Trajectories and Internationalization

  • Fredson Pedro (Doctoral Candidate, PPGH-UFC) – The Archivo General de Indias and Colonial Indigenous Worlds
  • Cláudio Carvalho (Doctoral Candidate, PPGH-UFC) – Panteão and Panthéon: Internationalization in Historical Research

Roundtable (2:30–4:30 p.m.) – Fictions and Roles of Time

  • Ana Lorym Soares (Faculty Member, Department of History – PPGH-UFC) – The “Documentary Turn” in Contemporary Literature: History, Memory, and Temporalities
  • Régis Lopes (Faculty Member, Department of History – PPGH-UFC) – Calendars, Agendas, and Other Fictions

The 2026 Internal Seminar is part of PPGH’s academic initiatives aimed at consolidating its research lines, fostering exchange between faculty and students, and deepening the theoretical and methodological discussions that guide the Program’s historiographical production.

By addressing themes such as political history, memory, literature, internationalization, and archival research, the event reaffirms PPGH-UFC’s commitment to high-quality training, the circulation of research, and the national and international engagement of its scholars.
