Teaching Internship

The teaching internship is regulated by Annex VIII of Resolution No. 8 – CEPE, of April 26, 2013, which instituted the Undergraduate and Graduate Articulation Program (PROPAG), with the main objective of contributing to raising the academic quality of the UFC’s undergraduate courses, through the effective participation and collaboration of master’s and doctoral students in undergraduate actions, especially in activities related to teaching and learning.

PROPAG defines the following rules:

for master’s students, the mandatory duration of the internship will be one academic semester (corresponding, in the PPGH – UFC, to the Teaching Internship I activity), and for doctoral students, the mandatory duration will be two academic semesters (corresponding, in the PPGH – UFC, to the Teaching Internship II and III activities);
the Teaching Internship disciplines must be supervised and monitored by the teacher responsible for the undergraduate curricular component to which the student is linked, who is responsible for defining, together with the student, the planning, execution and evaluation of the activities;
the weekly workload of the Teaching Internship activity will be four hours, in which master’s and doctoral students will be able to carry out the following activities:
participation in theoretical subjects;
participation in practical, laboratory activities;

leveling courses in basic subjects;
tutoring study groups;
support in guiding students in the preparation of monographs and term papers;
preparation of teaching materials;
pedagogical support for students with special needs and their respective teachers, with compulsory monitoring by the Accessibility Department;
at the student’s discretion and with the advisor’s agreement, the duration of the Teaching Internship may be longer than the minimum required in item I of Annex VIII of Resolution 8 – CEPE;

it is forbidden to use the teaching internship subjects, except for those who can prove that they have taught for at least one semester in public or private higher education.

Within the scope of the PPGH – UFC, students must, subject to the conditions listed above, enroll in Teaching Internship I (Master’s Degree) and Teaching Internship II and III (Doctorate), and, together with the teacher responsible, define which undergraduate subject they will develop their activities in.

ATTENTION: we recommend that you enroll in Teaching Internship I (Master’s) in the third semester of the course. With regard to Teaching Internships II and III (Doctorate), we suggest that they be taken in the third and fourth semester of the course, respectively.

After completing the Teaching Internship, the student must, by the last day of the semester, submit to the PPGH- UFC Secretariat the Declaration of Completion of Teaching Internship duly signed by the professor responsible for monitoring the activities carried out by the student.

ATTENTION: the declaration must contain the concept PASSED or FAILED for Master’s and Doctorate students.
